hyper(beyond the limit)+bole(means speak)..so someone who gives the statement beyond his limit..overstating basically.

hyper-excessive;bole-means speaking on Hindi....So excessive speaking

hyperbole = hyper means very more than normal, bol means talk i.e effective talking or something.

plane in a bowl - is a hyperbole statement.
